Gregg Kreutz has always had an interest in drawing and painting, but it was only after he had received his degree in English from NYU that he considered this interest to be a serious one. He happened to take a course at the Art Students League in New York from the renowned teacher David A. Leffel, and determined then to make painting his life work. He was awarded the League's Thekla M. Bernay memorial Merit Scholarship, and would join the teaching faculty at the League three years later. Kreutz has taught at the Scottsdale Artists' School each year since its opening.

Kreutz is a highly versatile painter whose subject matter includes still lifes, landscapes, figuratives, interiors and urban architecturals. He considers the physicalness of oil paint a tool with which to create illusions and mystery. In his painting, he is conscious of how light flows, why shadows fall as they do and how atmosphere envelops the whole. He explores these ideas in his book, Problem Solving for Oil Painters.

Kreutz has repeatedly won awards in important national shows and is represented by prestigious fine art galleries across the country, including the Gallery Shoal Creek.
